Funny isn't it, that when last year summer was relatively cool, NO ONE mentioned it... In fact, this spring has been relatively cool until this past week. Not a word was said...

Did it really get up to 99 here in Dallas today?

I was outside all day working in my mom's yard, and I never really thought it was all that bad...had a nice breeze all day, and I did manage to stay in the shade...

Heck, I remember when we used to do that all day every day...but I was much younger back then!!!

that's the kind of 102 you get in Texas all the time. I'd take that 102 over the 90 degrees that usually happen in June.

But just because it's hot now doesn't mean it's going to be hot in the summer. But as much as I love Texas. I don't think I could take that heat as of right now.

I lived in the desert of California - so I thought that I knew what hot was.
I went to collge in Hawaii so I thought that I knew what humid was.
I retired about ten years ago to South-East Texas and discovered that I knew neither. It gets hot and humid here in Beaumont. (I won't bring up the mosquitoes) Thank goodness for A.C.

That's not true. It was mentioned much on threads last year and I know that I've mentioned this cooler Spring as well. Many others have done the same. You're not doing your reading very well.

Exactly. I know I mentioned it last year, too. We never hit 100. In fact, our local news said yesterday when we were at 102 degrees, the last time we hit 100 was August, 2006.

As for a cooler Spring, it HASN'T been cooler here in Abilene. Our April totals were above average in both temperature and rain. (The rain part is good news!) I, for one, am concerned about the heat and what it might mean for this summer because my budget is so stretched with high food and gasoline bills that I can't afford high electric bills this early, too.

It was indeed 99 degrees yesterday in DFW. I didn't think it felt so bad because the humidity was low. Today, it's not as hot, but to me it feels hotter because it's more humid. Humidity makes all the difference as far as I am concerned. If you have to sweat, it should be able to evaporate and do some good.

I will be happy with 99 degrees. The temperatures in the 1980's, were over 100 degrees for 90 days. I worked in a warehouse, where all we had were fans blowing 108 to 110 degrees air inside the warehouse.

I will never forget the summer of 1980, when it was 113 degrees in DFW for two consecutive days. That summer was a real scorcher!
