I'm not too sure about the whole evangelicals voted in Trump thing. Evangelicals were Ted Cruz supporters. I remember a lot of hardcore Christians blasting Trump for not being Godly enough, cheating on his ex wife, his current wife having naked photos from a photoshoot, etc.

I think people who are rapidly anti immigration are Trumps base. That is, legal and illegal immigration.

Trump's base is super anti illegal immigration but havent seen anything to suggest they were against legal immigration.

Then were they shocked when he moved to cut legal immigration as well, right after he took office? I personally think that Midwesterners who don't like non-European immigration of whatever sort were the what put him over the top electorally in 2016.

They were about as shocked as Obama supporters were when it was realized he deported the most illegal immigrants of any president before him. What I remember from Trump supporters was people saying he is for legal immigration because he said numerous times "he wants to build a wall but with big beautiful doors to let people in" legally. I do remember talk of people saying we need to take care of our own in this country before allowing people to come in because how would we be able to take care of them?

It's still easier to immigrate into the US compares to some other first world countries, and even historically there were certain countries (especially from Africa) that had tougher barriers to entry than other countries (say from South America).

Our immigration system has never been perfect.

You can be "for" legal immigration and still think we were letting in too many people.

America has a labor shortage and a Great Resignation badly affecting the country. This is part of the reason that we are letting people in high amounts.

But populism is very unpopular in most suburbs of major cities. Thats why they are starting to shift blue.
Correct those are the loudest and the ones who support basically everything he says. Others vote for him just because they’re fiscally conservative or don’t like Biden for some other specific reason while getting hard ons to every word that comes out of his mouth.

A labor shortage in what though? What we're mainly seeing is shortages from older workers aka boomers. Younger workers, specifically the youngest millenials and also the Zoomers, have continued to look and find work. The shortage really falls down to service industry jobs many believe they're above now (unless they get better pay and work conditions). Hopefully the plan isn't to let more people in to take these low paying service industry jobs, which then won't increase wages or better the work conditions.

The labor shortage is being affected MUCH greater in quantity in relatively low paying, low skill labor jobs.

You must be a racist.

I'm loving the irony of your first comment. Doesn't it ever get old?
