What’s with these wildfires breaking out west? Did that part of Texas have a dry winter?

Yes, very dry in that area. Also, the extremely high winds make fires spread very quickly.

Isn't it normally dry in that area? It seems to get progressively dry pretty quickly when you get west of DFW.

Yes, Central Texas is usually pretty dry. WE had some horrible wildfires in Bastrop which is just east of Austin.

It seems I-35 keeps rain out of West Texas.
