Hi! I live in houston but wanna visit a smaller, less crowded Texas city. Maybe go to a good restaurant while there. Small, not too crowded and where english is the main language spoken.. Any suggestions?
Thanks

How small?

Tyler could be a good one. Lufkin. Nacogdoches

By small I assuming you mean, under 50k people. I vote Fredericksburg. Very charming city with a rich culture, and surprisingly a lot to do for a city of only 10K people. It is a tourist city though, but I have never found it overcrowded.

Waco is really good for a weekend. Really nice downtown, good restaurants, and Balcones distillery.

Brenham isn’t too far from Houston. It’s the home of Blue Bell ice cream, has a nice downtown square, and a cool lavender farm.

Marble Falls is my favorite small town in Texas. Lots of nearby attractions.

Jefferson, Fredericksburg, and Port Aransas are Texas' most classic small-town destinations catering to tourists where you should be able to get a good meal, indulge in unique atmosphere, see some local attractions, and probably find some souvenirs.

There's others too, like Granbury, Brenham, Kerrville, Wimberley...

If you're willing to make the all-day drive out to Far West Texas, there's Alpine, Marfa, and Fort Davis, but it doesn't sound like that's what you had in mind.

And English is the main language now. 50 years ago it may have been German.

Rockport- has sort of a Florida vibe about it, and some decent restaurants. about 2 h 40 mins from Sugar Land.

"Rockport is a city on the coast of Texas. It's home to long Rockport Beach, with its fishing piers and rich birdlife. The Texas Maritime Museum explores Gulf Coast history with exhibits on shipbuilding, oil drilling and pirates. Nearby, Rockport Center for the Arts has changing local art displays and a sculpture garden. Fulton Mansion is a restored 19th-century home with gardens and an educational center."
