Our power has been out since 6pm last night and we get texts every 2 hours saying it will be back on in another 2 hours or more. The last one was around 6 am saying our power would not be restored until 11 am. I do not think there is anything wrong that is being repaired. I think it is a supply issue and I think this is a strategic black out being done by Oncor and/or Ercot. Is anyone else in Texas experiencing anything like this?

We all need to conserve. The entire US may have a problem this year.

Forget the politics.

Sorry that you’ve been without power in this heat!
You’re certainly experiencing a local issue, as available supplies have exceeded demand with plenty in reserve & no shortages, yesterday & today. As others mentioned, review Ercot site.

I noticed that news media is pushing the BS idea that we are under an insane heatwave
Seems like that’s being used as an excuse to cover for ERCOT’s failure
Yes, it’s hot, but not Armageddon kind of heat like they say on the news

What ERCOT failure? I've looked at utilization vs. capacity rates several times a day recently and it seems the grid has performed well.

Texas Calls for Power Conservation After Six Generators Fail - May 13, 2022
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...er-plants-fail

The Texas grid operator called on residents to conserve energy Friday after six generation facilities tripped offline amid hot weather, prompting power prices to spike.

The power-plant failures resulted in a loss of about 2,900 megawatts of electricity, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas said in an email statement Friday. That’s enough power for about 580,000 homes and businesses. Natural-gas fired plants make up all of the generation that failed, an Ercot spokesman said.

[Mod edit: orphaned]

3. The DMN ran a bit today.........wind and solar are providing roughly 1/3 of TX power. Morphing from near zero green power to lots of green power was never going to pain free. Instead of pointing fingers and bellyaching for political reasons we should instead be happy that very free markets have yielded a quick leap to significant green power generation.
