No Lamborghinis or Ferraris, mostly American muscle in DFW and Houston.

Texas roads aren't for the faint of heart with speed limits reaching 85 mph in some parts. But that's not fast enough for some drivers who have been busted going way over 100 mph.

Ticket data from the Texas Department of Public Safety acquired by The Drive for 2022, shows the five most frequent high speeders were in a Dodge Charger/Challenger, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Corvette and a Yamaha YZF.

Wow someone got pulled over in the 635 tunnel? I have never ever seen police pulling folks over for speeding in the tunnel before, so they must have just started doing this. That thing was a fun free for all with low traffic most times. And DFW with 5 of the 10 spots.

Because DFW has lots of well-off people (rich enough to afford super cars and the tickets) and has giant oversized roads that are completely empty at night, like the SRT and Dallas North Tollway. They turn into straight-line tracks almost every night. I know some people who have done runs myself.

I saw that list earlier.. ..One thing I was wondering is if 'ticket' means they got a slap on the wrist and the officer let them go with a big speeding fine, or if they were also arrested for reckless driving with a speeding ticket ontop of that.

Technically in Texas, you can't be arrested for speeding, but you can be arrested for reckless driving.

That's true. The speed limit signs are prima facie evidence of the speed that is reasonable and prudent for a given road. I know people in West Texas that got out of tickets by convincing a judge that going 85 on a road with no traffic in good conditions was not unreasonable or imprudent.

TBH I wish we had roadways of which qualified drivers with a special license could drive as fast as they wanted with no repercussions. A network of said roadways across America. Not as plentiful as say Interstates, but enough of them to make skips across the country.

What I want to know is what did that guy do to his Charger that allowed it to break 200 mph? I don't think Chargers off the lot are that fast...

It was probably a Charger Hellcat or Demon - those get to 200 mph.

Yep,

The Need For Speed With The Fastest Dodge Charger
The Dodge Charger comes in seven trim levels, each with a unique exterior and interior style and impressive high-performance engines. The base trim is the 2021 Dodge Charger SXT with a top speed of 196 MPH. The GT trim reaches top speeds of 147 MPH, while the R/T trim has a 0-60 speed of 5.2 seconds and reaches 155 MPH.

The rest of the trims blow away the first three. The Scat Pack and Scat Pack Widebody trims have a top speed of 175 MPH and reach 60 MPH in 4.3 seconds. The SRT Hellcat Widebody has a top speed of 196 MPH and has a 3.6-second 0-to-60 speed. Finally, the fastest Charger is the 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody that achieves 0-to-60 in 3.5 seconds and tops out at 203 MPH.

Wow those are jaw dropping figures. I complain all of the time about speeding in my neighbourhood. It makes you want to weep at the lack of respect for the law and the safety and well being of their fellow human beings (not to mention animals!!)
