The list of bogeymen many Republicans fear is too long to be put in here. The party’s reactive behaviors are rooted in fear. You simply cannot be this out of touch.

I'll start.

Cold - ask Ted Cruz
Jews - ask any Republican/conservative/GOP --(screenshot)--
Africans and Black people in general
Mexicans (really any immigrants)
Native Americans
Middle Easterners (specifically Muslim)
Indians
Asians
FBI
DOJ
Trump - "kiss my ring you obedient Republicans/conservatives"
Trees - ask Abbott
Women making up their own minds - ask any Republican/conservative

and on and on and on....

Nope, serious question.
Beto is a 3-time loser who believed his own press clippings when the collective left thought they were going to get rid of Ted Cruz. He has run and lost for a different office every 2 years. Hell, even Biden didn't want him after promising him he would give him a job. In 2024 does he finally give up and go away, run for Cornyn's seat or try again to be the democrat nominee for President.

He killed any chance of winning statewide office when he ran for President. Having him as the nominee was like a free pass to the GOP. Abbott by 8-10 points here.

Paxton and Patrick are different. They will probably win but the margins will be close. Especially Paxton.

Why do you think running for president ruined his chances of winning a statewide election?

Nope, thats just a cop out. An admitted Trump voter does not get to complain about the lack of professionalism in politics or nutcases.

Because he had to cater to the Democratic base. He had to champion ideas that are wildly unpopular among independent voters in Texas. The ideals he ran on during the Presidential campaign vs. when he ran against Cruz were different. Against Cruz, he ran as a much more moderate candidate. That gave the Abbott camp more than ample ammo to use.

Now granted politics is ugly now. Most of the sound clips on the radio attributed to Beto were edited and spliced to show him saying things that he didn't say. But he still said plenty of things when he ran for president that were real that were a turn off to independent voters in Texas.
