Now that Abbott won, he makes no mention of legalizing gambling

Behind a paywall, but Abbott said in October that he's open to expanding gambling. Of course, since Dan Patrick says no way, it doesn't really matter what Abbott thinks. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/pol...n-17533324.php

In fairness (not that you're interested in fairness, but others might be), all Abbott said before the election was that he was open to considering casinos. Not mentioning it in the 3 weeks following the election is completely consistent with his pre-election statement. it's not as if, pre-election, he said he was going to lead the charge for or even propose the legalization of casinos.

I see,
he's open to talk about it, doesn't mean that he supports it
makes sense

How Abbot feels about it is much less important (apart from his veto power) than how Patrick and Phelan feel about it.

Same state government, same party
If anybody cared about it, they would pick up the phone and talk to the other person or bring it up when they are having lunch.

That would be nice, but each of those folks has their own agendas, even if they're the same party.

Not to mention that the super-freaks who wrote the party platform earlier this year will be pressuring all of them to pursue other things that make those three's agendas seem tame.

What do y’all think of this? Should gambling be legal in texas?
Gambling is legal... as long as it belongs to the Lottery Commission. That's a very powerful outfit/lobby that doesn't want casinos and the like robbing them of their 'rightful' monopoly on taking your money.
