The supreme court can't overturn anything.

The last three can't really be changed by the SC but the first can have the supreme court decide that it DOES only apply to muskets and that any state can make whatever laws they want about other guns. I could sort of see this happening but doubt it unless Democrats win 5 presidencies in a row.

Breaking:

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced he is invoking the “Invasion Clauses of the U.S. and Texas Constitutions” to protect the state from the record-setting influx of migrants. Nearly two-thirds of all migrants illegally crossing the border enter through the five Texas-Based Border Patrol sectors.

Governor Abbott tweeted on Tuesday morning that he invoked the Invasion Clauses of the U.S. and Texas Constitutions in order to protect citizens of the State of Texas from the continuing border crisis created by changes in border security and immigration policies under the Biden administration.

Bad news Republicans ... immigration is not controlled by states, it's done by the federal government.
Gov. Abbott is stepping all over the constitution with this antics.

One data point vs all the studies.

According to the most recent firearms violence report, firearms were used defensively in 166,900 nonfatal violent crimes between 2014 and 2018, which works out to an average of 33,380 per year. Over the same period, defensive gun use was reported in 183,300 property crimes, or an average of 36,660 per year.

Taken together, that’s 70,040 instances of defensive gun use per year.

That is on the low side since defensive gun use is not reported for victims of trespassing and commercial crimes.

https://www.thetrace.org/2022/06/def...ys-with-guns/(

Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year, or 6,849 every day. Most often, the gun is never fired, and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.

60 percent of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed. Forty percent of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim might be armed.
Felons report that they avoid entering houses where people are at home because they fear being shot.

Maybe but he's saving us from having to house them, feed them, school them and provide medical treatments.
If bidden would do his job then we would not have too now would we.

I recall democrats on this board saying if Abbott has a problem he should fix it.

Looks like that is what is *allegedly* happening. Let’s see what happens next.
