I know many of us are upset over the results of the election, but it's not all Republicans' fault. It's not JUST that Texas is a red state. The Texas Democratic Party is run by incompetent, out of touch people.

That might sound harsh, but when you haven't won a meaningful election in almost 30 years, keep bringing out a candidate who has lost twice already and thinks saying "Yes, we're coming for your AR-15s" in TEXAS, that's incompetence. When you lose by double digits to a governor who caused Texans to freeze to death and responded to an elementary school shooting with "It could have been worse", AS WELL AS an attorney general who's under indictment, despite all of them having sub-50% approval ratings AND more than half of Texans saying the state is headed in the wrong direction, that's the definition of incompetent.

Here are some more articles on how badly run the Texas Democratic Party is:

https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-po...xas-democrats/

https://www.denverpost.com/2020/09/2...ign-democrats/

The Party Chair of the Texas Democratic Party said that Biden not traveling because of COVID was "a pretty lame excuse".

THIS is the person in charge of the Texas Democratic Party. And you wonder why Democrats can't win elections in Texas.

https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-po...-2022-midterm/

Quote:
Since the 1980s and 1990s, when rural Texas flipped Republican, Democrats have by and large not even tried to compete there. In 55 mostly rural counties across the state, the Texas Democratic party does not have a local chair. In the other 199 counties, fewer than forty chairs told Texas Monthly they were doing door-to-door canvassing when we reached out.
Beto ran again because he's the ONLY big name the Texas Democrats have. How many Texas Democrats can you even name besides Beto?

The Texas Democratic Party is SO BADLY RUN. I don't know if they're EVER going to get their stuff together, if they haven't won a meaningful election in almost 30 years.

I know a few lefties who think Beto is an idiot. If this election had a stronger DEM, its very possible they could have put Abbott out

Incompetence is when Texas is run by Republicans for over 30 years and in 2011 and 2021 the Texas power grid collapses when there's record low temperatures and kills hundreds of people.

The party seemed to badly want one of the Castro twins to run, but they chose not to. They had no one else remotely of quality to turn to, so they went with Beto, who anyone who was paying attention knew was a terrible candidate.

The OP's statement and yours are not mutually exclusive.

Well said op! Sadly that is the direction the national Democrat party has gone in so the texas Democrat party is just following the national parties lead.

I already pointed out how the Texas Democratic Party doesn't have a local chair in 55 mostly rural counties, and in the other 199 counties, FEWER THAN 40 CHAIRS told Texas Monthly they were going door-to-door canvassing.

The Texas Democratic Party has nobody to blame but themselves for losing elections. And it's not even that Republicans are all that popular. NOBODY in Texas actually likes Abbott, Cruz or Paxton. Not many people actually liked Perry either. It's that the Texas Democratic Party is so poorly run, that a lot of Texans don't even know who the Democratic candidate is, let alone want to vote for them. If they can't beat freakin' Abbott, Cruz Paxton, or Perry, then they're absolutely incompetent.

Idiocy is when people think it would've made a bit of difference if Democrats were running the state during a freak cold spell.

You seem to be very, very unhappy in Texas.

The weaknesses and vulnerabilities were explicitly diagnosed after the 2011 cold snap and brownouts. Nothing was done. And while I don't necessarily think the Democrats are necessarily any more competent in general, in this case it has been a Republican-run government during that period, so the charge of incompetence on their part has some validity.

Of course, the extent to which the government should manage and regulate electric power generation and transmission is a subject for another day...

"Colorado Republican Party has entered the chat..."

Honestly, the Texas Dems should get a pass. Gerrymandering and demographics aren't in their favor. Yes, people thought Perry was a dope, but there are way more people who'd rather vote for an imbecile like Goodhair than anyone with a D next to their name. Same can be said for that crooked skeeve Paxton.

The Texas Dems would need a perfect storm and a perfect candidate to win statewide office.

The Colorado GOP, on the other hand, is incompetent.
