Hey all,

the mrs and I are driving from Austin to Lubbock soon. Anyone know of a great steakhouse along the way serving unique cuts including calf fries?

Thanks!

Why not just call them what they are, the testicles of a bull.
There is a great steak house just outside of Waco to the North on I'35, its on the right if your going South right at the highway but I don't recall the name.

Gee, I always thought they were Rocky Mountain oysters?

I know Mary's Cafe in Strawn Texas serves them, and Risckey's Steakhouse in the FT Worth Stockyards serves them. But I don't know if that is the way that you are travelling.

Your exactly right, I remember the name now you say it. It used to be excellent. I loved the beer battered mushrooms myself as a starter to a nice steak dinner.

Because they are not called that on any given menu. They'll be listed as either calf fries or (Rocky) Mountain oysters.

Do you actually ask for bull testicles at a steakhouse? You probably get some strange looks if you do.

I personally don't eat them.

LOL, OK....hard to tell in a forum...!

I love them. We used to get them all the time when they were working calves and goats. They were cleaned up and kept in freezer containers!

They're as tender as filet mignon....mmmmm.

I like both calf/goat fries.

There was a steakhouse in Midland that served them, but that's not where they're going, LOL!
