Sure, come on in. There are actually a lot of Texans of Czech ancestry, in fact my family on my mother's side were immigrants from what was then Czechoslovakia. Sadly I have lost touch with Czech culture but my uncle did visit the "old country" back in the 80's.

Out where I live in Hutto there are tons of Czechs or people descended from. My BIL and his family are Czech, and in fact, his grandmother is originally from there. She still has her accent. Taylor, Granger, Hutto, Round Rock, Georgetown, Jarrell, West....Also heavy Swiss and German ancestry as well.

My stepkids' mother's side of the family are Czech. They are from Forney, east of Dallas.

Houston acquired about 200,000, the DFW area around 20,000.

Well, they certainly didn't come here for jobs. Why Texas? Why didn't they go elsewhere? It's not fair! Boo Hoo!!

Because our esteemed governor rolled out the red carpet for 'em.

And there were quite a few who didn't appreciate it.....many wondered why we didn't do MORE, MORE, MORE...

I know several stories about the no appreciation, and it's sickening. It's funny that those types of stories aren't coming out of Iowa, at least that I know of. Those people actually got busy and worked their heads off doing what they could. They had all their discards out by the curbs awaiting hauling off of them. In N.O., yards were still trashed after 6 months because they were waiting for someone else to do the work. I just don't get it.
