We want to go to Schlitterbahn for a couple of days and have always gone to the one in Central Texas. However, this year we thought we might do something different and try the Galveston location. Has anyone been to both and could I get your opinion? I wouldn't be going to Galveston for any other reason....I don't care for the ocean water in Galveston so that's not a temptation. I just thought we might try something different.

I've been to both. There's no comparison in size--New Braunfels is much larger with more rides, etc. Both parks are very well run, clean and family oriented. Both are equally crowded.

If you are just going to experience Schiltterbahn, then I would stick with New Braunfels. However, Galveston is a neat place to visit and there are many other attractions there besides just the beach. Moody Gardens is right next to Schlitterbahn and there's a ton of things to do there as well.

Default Break Out Some Glen Campbell

Given the choice, I'd rather do Galveston. The Schlitterbahn there would just be a more perfect setting. Nothing against New Braunfels, mind you, but there's always something special about the tropics, and especially Texas tropics!

We just spent all day yesterday at the Galveston Schlitterbahn. My wife has been with the kids to the one in New Braunsfels multiple times, this was my first time to any Schlitterbahn.

The kids are split on which one they like best. The NB one has more rides, but the Galveston SB has a much better "river float" experience.

Wife likes Galveston because it's smaller and easier to navigate compared to the three different parks that are loosely connected in NB.

We also did Moody, the Beach, Strand, Museums, etc.

Steve

Galveston is better for the all-around experience, because more than likely, you won't just be doing Schlitterbahn. There is also Moody Gardens next door, the beach, museums/historic district in Galveston, etc.

I say Galveston.. they know how to party on the coast. But The Hill country has more of the original German settlers in there many small cities, so it maybe a bit more authentic in the hill country.

Ditto. I was just going to make the same observation.

It's also very crowded.

It's touching, too. Like you get the thing telling you about the passenger, etc.
