Picky with the terminology, are ya? A water spout then--is that better?

Things are fine here right now--must be between bands.

Much better I did talk to my parents (who live in Portland) earlier, and they said that they heard there was a tornado "on Ocean Drive." If that's true...then there was a tornado...and there might be a lot of damage to expensive homes.

We were hoping for some rain up here in Dallas...looks like we won't get anything.

Wow, my heart goes out to the folks in the Brownsville area. This hurricane is slowing to a crawl and playing with them. The Weather Channel's hurricane expert said they will be having bands of heavy rain up to the next 36 hours.

South Padre is apparently seeing a lot of damage. The hotel Jim Cantore from the W.C. is staying at is losing its roof and they're moving the guests to the lower levels, he said! An apartment complex collapsed, too.

Out here it's still sort of sunny, but lots of big, fluffy gray and white clouds all over as well. I agree, I think it's funny people up here in the Austin area panicking and buying up staples. It's probably just all the new transplants who haven't figured things out yet, so gotta love them. I was gonna go do my regular shopping today too, but forgot about people trying to stock up. Guess I'll go anyway and hope for the best

Down here we had about 3 seconds of moisture. The wind is about a 20-30mph breeze, skies are cloudy. Live Oak Co. is in a tornado watch warning until 7 tonight, though. Gonna have to wait and see how it all plays out, I guess.

Got a phone call from my mother in Montana a few minutes ago. Said all her co-workers were scared to death over it. Then when she said that they had 70mph winds last night and this morning, I told her to relay the message that this portion of South Texas is seeing far less damage than that desolate wasteland.

Didn't think you could clean someone's house by knocking a bunch of stuff over going ape-sh** with a fire hose.
