Yeah.. I guess if you are trying to attract the cheaper crowds to come visit then it's a positive. But in my experience the people looking for the deals don't splurge much to benefit to the local economy.

Find a cheap hotel in NYC, San Francisco, Chicago.. Not happening. I live in Dallas, own a home and love it here but it is no travel destination period!

Going off said list, it looks like Houston is in the same boat as tourist Meccas like San Antonio and Orange County, CA.
