Too much open space between different cities here for that (and this was already discussed and proven pages ago).
True. Houston is very lush, but the only part of town that really gives you that sleepy, backwoods vibe is the north side. The trees are nice and all, but even driving up to The Woodlands or Kingwood/Atascocita is pretty drowsy. Not nearly as stimulating as West Houston.

America's Favorite Cities 2010 - City Comparison - Houston vs Dallas/Fort Worth | Travel + Leisure

Check out what Travel+Leisure thinks of the rival..still opinionated but we get a clear view. Houston tops in just about every category!!!

I think somebody at Travel & Leisure had their puppy* run over once* by the Mayor* of Dallas. That city is always at the bottom of every T&L list. T&L would rank Dallas last if it was publishing a list of the most Dallas-like cities in America.

(By "puppy" I mean four year old child, by "once" I mean repeatedly, and by Mayor I mean everybody).

We all know lists can be picked for any of these categories that could put one or the other ahead. The areas are so similar in many respects that lists are really pointless. Travel and Leisure is out to get DFW however

Interesting indeed. I actually found that I pretty much agreed with most (but not all) of the categories that Houston won. Dob't feel bad, Dallas. Atlanta lost to Houston as well.

These are the categories I think Dallas should have won (or did win in):
1. Fall Visits
2. Spring Break visits (weather is unbeatable in Dallas at these times)
3. Big name restaurants
4. Farmer's Markets
5. TIE- neighborhood joints and cafe's (Dallas has lots so does Houston)
6. Big Name Luxury Hotels (ritz, W, etc)
7. Business Hotels
8. TIE- stylish boutique hotels (zaza, mansion, etc)
9. TIE- BBQ
10. Haven't had many burgers from Houston but Dallas has some damn good spots
11. Cocktail Hour
12. Live music/concerts/bands
Athletic/Stylish/Attractive People
13. Cleanliness
14. Environmental friendliness
15. TIE- noteworthy neighborhoods
16. Peace and Quiet
17. People Watching
18. Public Transport
19. TIE- wild weekend/affordable getaway
20. Skyline/ Views (less Trees provides more views. Like Dallas' skyline at night and Houston's by day)
21. Weather
22. Home Decor and Design Stores
23. Luxury Stores
Overall, Houston still wins lots of the categories they listed but DFW was under ranked in a lot.

Maybe everyone should expand on what they felt was inaccurate about the list. Y'all obviously strongly oppose it.
