Dallasboi mentioned something about attending TSU but from the sounds of it, its highly unlikely that he graduated from any university. Either way, its sad that a person of color would adopt such a stance when the facts state that the Black middle class in Texas would not even exist without HBCUs.

If your city has well functioning BLACK universities....its GOOD for your city. But If a city does not have a black college or university it does not mean that said city is not full of smart "Professional" Black People.....Dallas is the perfect example.

Correct!!!!...I went to T.S.U for 2 yrs. Got home sick and started f-ing up and came back to Dallas landed a job at a law firm in uptown (Jones Day) 4 months after getting back...stayed there 10 years and when the downturn hit I got laid off june 2010 and just got another better paying job at Hermes Sargent Bates law firm BofA tower in Nov of 2011 and is currently working there(moving downtown in two months...West end Station Apartments)...In those 10 years at Jones Day in uptown(2000-2010) I personally watched uptown explode into what it is now.I watched every building go up.Now im on the 52nd floor of the Tallest building in Dallas Ft.Worth and Im ready to watch all of the surrounding neigborhoods of Downtown Dallas explode for the next 10 years...I love my City and I love my life............Well....you was wondering so I gave you the short version.

Get over it. No one said that Dallas does not have professional Blacks. The facts are, however, that its native middle class is no where near as large as Houston's, DC's, or Atlanta's and thats due in large part to a historical lack of education options for Black Dallasites. This plays a part in how Dallas is perceived by many Black professionals nationwide. Only a homer would take that as an insult or an attack. YOUR OWN FORMER MAYOR basically said the same thing.

Speaking of universities, SMU is currently expanding.

"Over the past few years, SMU’s campus has expanded south of Mockingbird Lane and east of Central Expressway, growing the Dallas campus to 237 acres"

No,Its sad that you can't follow the discussion. I never stated that Dallas had no educated Black natives. I stated clearly that the Black middle class in Dallas relies heavily on transplants because the natives don't have the numbers of the other cities cited in the article. Was I wrong? Is Ron Kirk wrong?
