Yes and yes. Littlefield was named for George W. Littlefield, a Civil War officer and native of Mississippi. However, in more recent years Littlefield has been better known as the hometown of Waylon Jennings, a member of Buddy Holley's band and later a country music singer and musician. But more to the point is that my wife has family members buried at the Littlefield Cemetery.

I've heard of it, but that's only because I live in Lubbock. I've never been there, though, so I don't know if I'd like it or not. All I know is that it's a very small town, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Well, I have a thing for windmills, and Littlefield does have the world's tallest windmill. It's also the home of Waylon Jennings. Right now, I can't give a good verdict outside of what I've seen in the town. There's not much there now, and the square downtown is pretty dead right now. That's not to say there can't be new life there eventually.

this thread just reminded me of an EXCELLENT record that waylon did 20 years or more ago .... i know i had it on cassette tape..... 10-11 songs and each dealt with a chapter in his life.....

in the first, he sings about littlefield and being a sharecropper's son....

gonna have to go find this on cd now......
