The Spaghetti Intensity models show it as a consensus Cat II.

Looking at the tropical heat potential of the Gulf, there is one or two hot spots, but the rest of the Gulf is pretty cool.

It will be a Cat II.

Default Ike

If there is a hit to CC and Ike is up here how will it affect us here? I used to live in Corpus for a few years, cant say as I liked it much either, of course dont want to see a direct hit there, but glad Im here in SA. Only I dont know what to expect from a hurricane up this way. Hurricanes are too much anxiety and stress. People that grew up in Corpus there or have been there a long time dont see to get too excited and seem to want to stay. Drove me crazy, you hear on the news to leave and then you talk to people there and they tell you dont leave. I had my first major anxiety attack watching and waiting for a hurricane to approach corpus one year, everyone telling me something different, what to do stay or go! Couldnt live like that! Dont see how people in NOLA continue to live there and deal with that year after year, especially after Katrina!

I was in Houston during Alicia and we were without electricity for 2 weeks. August in Houston with no AC-it took years of counseling to get over that one.

Make sure you fill your bathtub with water and collect rainwater in containers so you can flush the toilet in the event the water is turned off due to contamination. Also dry ice wouldn't be a bad idea. We used a propane stove outside to cook on.

Default Ike Take A Hike - Corpus Christi resident looking for help

Kingsville rooms are all booked already due to Ike.

Is there anyone here from Kingsville that would be willing to put up mom and daughter for two days until Ike passes. The floor would be fine and we're good people.

Rooms are already full in your town and I'm willing to pay you $100.00 a day just for a place to plop until Ike passes.

Not that we have a choice, but prefer assistance from single female, married couple or elderly.

Eileen

Default Corpus resident looking to help from Ike

There are no rooms. We'll get stuck in the car.

We left for Rita and had to go as far as Eagle Pass in order to get a room. That trip ended up costing me over $600.00 and it wasn't necessary since Rita turned.

Kingsville is the closest city that would be out of the grunt of landfall but Kingsville will still get it pretty good since it's only 40 miles from me and 46 miles from the coastline.

I've been thinking about it quite a bit and a) I don't want to end up in that traffic and b) I know we'll end up sleeping in my Pathfinder if we do so I thought I would seek via forum for something a little more comfortable for my daughter.

Are any shelters being set up? They may not be the most comfortable places, but they will porbably have sturdy walls/roof, cots, and food and water. Just make sure it is a Tx run shelter, not FEMA .

You could check with the Police or Fire departments in Kingsville for advice on a shelter. Here's a link to a list of phone numbers there.

From what I've been seeing, this hurricane is huge and devastating -- I really don't think Kingsville is going to be far enough away. Listen carefully to what your local leaders are planning and advising before you make your decisions.

Thanks for that Bowie and Trainwreck, no on the shelters for Corpus. If someone doesn't have transportation they're busing them out. Actually they're busing already everyone who is handicapped.

I'll check for shelters in Kingsville.

Thanks again but I'm still looking for something other than a shelter first and a shelter as a last resort.
