My wife and I are planning to build in Pecan Plantation. We already have land there.

Looking for info on anticipated building costs and any recommendations for residential contractors/builders.

Thanks!

we were looking at house on re-sale market this weekend and our real estate agent (who has been working in this area for almost 30 years) said that now is not the time to be building a contract home--builders have been skinned by the market and probably would look at a contract to build as a way to put more than usual amount of money in their pockets...
that being said--sometimes you don't have the option to wait

you might look at this link--many of these builders are in Granbury
Hood County Builders Association
John Askew is a builder more in Aledo area but he is great--does expensive homes--don't know your budget

if you want one that is pretty energy feature conscious you might check out
Ferrier Custom Homes -Building, green, energy-efficient, affordable, High Performance homes. (http://www.ferriercustomhomes.com/InTheSpotlight.htm - broken link)
he is nationally known and has been doing this for much longer than most in this area

Ferrier builds total contract homes--does not do subdivisions like most other builders do-
one thing you need before you talk to him is your land--which you have

he was building a house in grapevine that I thought was a for-sale house--and I called about it but it was a contract job--and his office is in FTW and I think he lives in Aledo/Weathford area--so he does all over the DFW metroplex...

check out this link to house he built for his daughter several years ago...style not really for a senior couple because there are some levels. and it is modern exterior which I don't think would be allowed in Pecan Plantation
but has info about energy features..
Heather's Home - An Afforadable Near Zero Energy Home by Ferrier Custom Homes (http://www.heathershome.info/ - broken link)

I think there are probably quite a few builders in this area that build a good home--but anytime someone builds a home you always have to deal with the different sub contractors and their personnel...sometimes there are changes, not much oversight, and I don't know what building costs are looking like now--
