I'm beginning to notice lots of artist from Texas releasing lots of music, especially from cities like Houston and Dallas. Waco seems to be growing into a hip hop city as well with Strange Fruit and a few other upcoming artist.

Nothing new here...

Houston has been known as a Hip Hop & Gangsta Rap city since the late 80's with groups/artists like the Geto boys & Scarface.

Dallas is just now starting to get noticed & recognized state wide in the Hip Hop world, but has failed over the years to ever produce any outstanding main stream talent.

Waco is a joke.

Houston is the only think cracking in texas, the rest of the state is pretty much dead, which is sad, cuz we a huge freaking state, i know the d.o.c was from dallas, and dj premier, one of nys best producers, is originally from houston.

Exactly

Texas has a lot of "underground" guys trying to break out into the mainstream, but so far only Houston has been able to produce those artists.

It seems like everyone & their mom wants to be a Rapper/Hip Hop act nowadays, but in reality only the ones with true talent make it in an already overly saturated & watered down genre.
