Wow...i think you misinterpreted what Muhnay was saying, perhaps.
First of all, despite the way his screen name sounds, he is not Middle Eastern, I know he's American.
When I read what he wrote, I thought about my experiences having lived briefly in Colorado, and the many visits I have had to Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana..and I have gotten familiar with the way those states have, to a degree, been affected by the wave of Californians moving in. The environmentalists, liberals, etc. I don't see anything wrong with what he said.

Because I do see that there are a lot of people who are smarter then to just look at people based on what they look like or political beliefs. Even though I think its important to note that there are certain things we may not all agree on but that doesnt make me or anyone else in here any less smarter or a criminal, or a bad person in anyway. Well I think its impossible for someone to try and make Texas California when we all know that would never happen just like a Texan trying to make California a Texas. Ignorance is your problem there Muhnay people like you are the same people you described in your post that you dont want there. your the people that dont know how to look at people by their values and what they can or have to offer but by where they come from or what they look like. By your name I would guess your from middle east, but I wouldnt judge you based on that. Specially since I have many friends from many countries and I have learned to see people for what they have to offer or as humans not a color of political view. Anyway Im sure your looked like or were looked at the same way when You lied in Seattle and you probably would not fit in here in California but i wouldnt say not to move here because you are the ones that make Texas or California a bad place to lie. Anyway I think youve received enough Attention.

I'm sorry that happened, eddie90638. Please know not all people in Texas have that mindset. I hope you find a nice place that is ideal for you and yours.

belle, with all due respect, when one goes to a forum because he or she is interested in moving elsewhere, there is an excitement and a "I can't wait to get recommendations" thoughts.

If I had read a post like Muhnay wrote~~ Please Don't. California is far better than Texas.. Stay in Cali.. you'll be better off and happy you did.. Texas Sucks.. ~~ when I was looking for relocation to VA or TN, I would have felt kind of bad if someone had made such a comment to me about where I live. It is very narrow-minded and ignorant. It's almost racist, but in a geographical sense.

He then goes on to say he doesn't want Californians here because he has some silly worry about them changing Texas. It's just plain childish and a bit hurtful, well maybe not to eddie, but I think it would be to some people. In my opinion, we need more people like eddie in this state. He sounds like he has his head on straight.

Thank you canine I appreciate your comment and you are right those comments can be hurtful to many people It doesnt bother me just because I know who I am and what I have to offer. I have lived in California and love it here, but I have always heard wonderful things about Texas and also bad things by people that have never lived there yet they have something to say. even here there are people who are just as ignorant as some of the people that exist in the whole world and just like here its only a few. i have met people that say o texas this and Texas that but how can you speak for everyone. Anyway I never said he was middle eastern I just said that I could assume that from his name and from what I typed I said I wouldnt have a problem even if he was and wouldnt care wether he was black, yellow, red or purple or WHITE. I have friends here that know me and would tell you that by no means do I look at the book by its cover. Anyway this is the last post I make to defend anything I say or to criticize anything anyone says I would just Like to get more feed back from more people on San Antonio and Austin if possible PLEASEEEE and Thanks to all the positive comments I have read all of them and thank you again.

Ok, i missed his first post. Perhaps he was just saying it in jest? I don't know. Sometimes the context of a post is misinterpreted because it lacks the "tone" of verbal communication.
But anyway, personally I don't have an issue with transplants. I don't rule the world or govern this state. I just hope and pray that Texas won't lose its identity, values etc if there are, for instance, tons of tree-hugging, granola-eatin', Birkenstock wearing environmentalist liberals coming from Pacific NW or California or wherever, and start to try to change our ways and our lifestyles. Colorado is a good example. My worst fear is that with all the liberals will come a bunch of radicals etc. PETA trying to stop rodeos-the cowboy way of life-hunting. (I am a BIG animal lover, my dogs are my life, but I am not against rodeo or hunting). Or my worst fear, making same sex marriage legal in Texas.

eddie, I think if you post on just the San Antonio and Austin forums, you will have better luck than on the entire Texas forum. Those people know the area really well and can help you much more. Best wishes.

Well Bellstar I think maybe the hunting and all the land and horses and maybe even cowboy life is whats attracting to me and my fam at least to me and my son and daughter LOL but to me I think Texas has that wilderness feel I think that be free kind of life from what I hear and see and that what Im looking for Im tired of that fast life and crowded life.. even though I can see the growth there I know Texas is big enough to have lots of people and still have that freedom out on the outskirts of the city. I love the outdoors and nature as well as animals. I have been to yellowstone, the grand canyon, yosemite, Utah and Loved all those places because of their nature. I hope that I can find a little piece of my own out there in Texas and hope to meet people that will be firendly and welcoming. Anyway keep the comments coming

belle, He meant what he said and there's no defending him. Well, you can if you want to.

I just don't get why anyone would worry about changing Texas; I truly doubt that will ever happen. If same-sex marriage ever happens, it wont be the fault of the Californians or the people from the Pacific NW. It will be the government which will more than likely continue to be run by Texans. I wouldn't like that either, and you know I'm not from Texas. If that happens, I just think I'll roll over and play dead.

Remember that tomorrow may be the end of this country as we once knew it and that unfortunately, will effect Texas. I hope not, but the potential is definitely there. Heaven help us, and pray like you've never prayed before.

What's wrong with eating granola?

Seriously though, no one can change the values people have unless they allow someone to do so. I have very high values and morals and again, I'm not a Texan. High standards are found everywhere and you and I both know that all places have low standards, morals, and values as well. Even Texans depict poor choices and low values and even Californians can be full of high-caliber values and, of course, vice versa.

eddie
I was born and raised (30 years) in southern California and have lived in North Carolina, Nevada, and currently in Texas for the second time. What I want is similar to what you seem to want so I'll give you my two cents worth. I'm in El Paso because of family but from research it looks like the hill country from San Angelo to San Antonio to Austin is going to be where I end up. Those areas offer the best of what Texas has to offer in my opinion. Texas has a way of making you feel at home even if you're not a native. Welcome to Texas.
