I think it's probably my least favorite.

I would have to say the New England accent is my least favorite. I like a slight southern accent, but just not one of extreme. I prefer a Texas accent to Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama.

I hate any accent that makes people sound uneducated, which is most all the strong drawls.

Interesting that you would interpret it that way. (That a strong drawl makes someone sound uneducated.) I know that that interpretation has bit many the New Yorker in the derriere, as they assume because a person has a Southern drawl that they're not as smart and underestimate them. But you're from here, aren't you?

Does that make them uneducated, however? Or is this just your own supercilious observation? At the same time, I apologize if I misunderstood your intent...so please explain what you mean. Fair enough?

I have to be honest and say that the New Yorker and New Jersey accents grate on my nerves. They just lack any "warmth". Definitely not a pretty sounding accent. I do kind of like the Boston accent-the way the Kennedy's talk.
I love the Texas twang. Mine is not strong unless I get real riled up about something!

That's funny I was just thinking the same about a NY accent. You know the kinda dumb Bronx stuff I mean. Uneducated, quick talking want let you get a word in edge wise people just typical NY accent! Oh but wait should I base my views on so little?

This is kind of an "interesting" take on the matter, I must say

A poster starts a thread which for all intents and purposes slams the "Texas accent" (in itself a variety of Southern American English)) in a Texas forum.

BUT...according to you, potential replies to this person are presumed ahead of time to be "flame."

Where are you coming from?
