LOL. To most people from small cities around Texas like Marlin, Cameron, or San Saba, Waco is probably not country. Likewise, to most people from bigger cities, Waco is country. IMO, Waco is pretty country. Besides, the answer asks for cities over 100,000. Naming cities like Elm Mott or Mart are disqualified. There's nothing wrong with being country btw.

McLennan County (Waco's Metro) has ~230,000 people. I don't consider that country by any means.
It also has a sizable downtown, major private university, & heavily traveled freeway corridor running through it. Waco is also half way between Dallas & Austin on I-35.

If Waco is country, than Houston and Dallas is country. The people in Waco have a strong bind with people in Dallas and Houston and vice versa. Waco's downtown is going through a billion dollar rennovation including a domed stadium, marina, hotels, condos, resturantes, theatre, stores,etc. Also with 17,000 people commuting to downtown Waco everyday....were far from country.

I don't think it is bad for a city to be country, but Waco is about as country as Houston and Dallas. Houston is home to the largest rodeo in the world. Waco is home to the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo, but after that that is it. You want country? Try China Springs or Elm Mott. Sorry but I don't see how Waco could be considered country. You say a person from a big city would consider it country, well in that case every city within population of 100k-200k could be considered country.
