Prove me wrong, because Obama stayed his distance away from Illinois' governor. I'm getting my information from a Chicago resident and from their newspaper.

Funny how Republicans were/are the only ones calling Obama the Messiah.

Here's where I stopped reading. Surely this post is satire. Have you read the news lately? Ever hear of the Chicago Machine? Oh, wow. Just... yeah, okay. Ha!

I'm not a Republican...just a citizen with eyes wide open.

No history? Texas was won in Houston at the battle of San Jacinto. Where do you think the name came from? If not for that win, Texas would be part of Mexico today. But you and your relatives would probably prefer that, so never mind...

Bush was born and educated in the northeast.

And funny you should mention the greatness of Illinois in light of recent events...

You know, it never fails to amaze me how some people from supposedly well-educated, worldly and open-minded places (San Francisco, NYC etc) can demonstrate such ignorant generalizations and stereotypical beliefs about Houston and Texas. Really ironic, isn't it?

You know what is funny, referring to your last paragragh? Houston has about the same % of Bachelors degree holders and professional degree holders as NY City so that thoery about them being superior in the education department is pretty false huh?

Hey who really wants to cast stones at ANY state politician- They are all crooked. IL could have been ID, ID could have been NJ, NJ could have been AK, AK could have been.... you name it.

They all suck...

Now,
I think the trouble with Texas is the overt simi-solidarity it's citizens have for 'Texas'. Some simply love the state and it can do no wrong. Even the Texas DMV takes advantage of this with it's tag plate marketing.

This can annoy people, especially from places much nicer or perhaps richer than Texas. After living in several places, Texas one of them, I can say Texas is great and Texas flat out stinks. Much like any other place.

However there seems to be many a Texan who cannot see the last part, and that strikes some people as odd given the outside world's view of Texas, which is not at all kind.

It's always people from the well-educated, worldly places that are so miseducated when it comes to the rest of the world. I guess they don't realized that most literature is either one-sided or just a matter of opinion.

That's their culture, shouldn't worldly NY and CHI people should be open-minded and embrace new ideas lol
