Does anyone know of any homes or apartments that do not use a TAA contract in San Antonio TX? These people at TAA have ruined my life. I am on the brink of homelessness because I had 2 evictions when I was 21 years old. I'm now 27 and make decent money but have no place to live due to TAA and there stranglehold on the apartment and housing situations in this town. If anyone can advise please help or share your story with me. You are not alone in loathing the most monopolizing agency in the state.

you will probably have to rent a house from an individual landlord.

Default Its not TAA

Your problem is not with the TAA. Their contract is standard for any large property owned by a large holding property management company. The main responsibility of the TAA is to oversee the property management companies and provide education for potential apartment employees. Where you are having problems sounds like in your background checks. Most apartments will use Experian and they are tough. Anything from one bounced check five years ago show up on that report. In this economy, most apartments are desperate to get tennants offering free months. So they must feel that your income is not high enough to out weigh your evictions. I would have to go with the other poster. You will need to find an independent owner and rent from them or go to a lower cost apartment.
