I am so much older than the students i'm not privvy to their lives, just what i overhear fore they realize grandma is in the area lmbo. I do get the impression that the sports games, ( football, basketball, baseball.... ) is a big thing. Sorry i can't be more help on it.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply. We suspected it would be a bit like that, but they seem to have inhouse entertainment on the campus looking at Frank Phillips web site. My son plays golf so hopefully his weekends are busy if he gets on the team. Thankyou once again

Before you move to Borger, please do yourself a favor and visit. My wife was transferred there because her dad was transferred to the Phillips refinery, They have the small town closed minded mentality. They will NEVER accept you if you were not born in their little town. Do you have kids? The kids there have nothing to do but drink and used drugs. In my wifes baptist church she attended, they played with wee-gi boards in sunday school class. Lots of the kids are worthless and bad influences. They die very often driving back and forth to Amarillo on weekends, while driving on the dark two lane roads that take them there and speeding. You would be amazed in a town so small how many kids die before they are 25. The Phillips plant and another plant called the carbon black plant stink up the towns air. Lots of people who live in a certian part of town that is considered a little nicer- they come down with lung cancer. Being a small town, they just accept it. The water you drink should come from the well in the city park, do NOT drink the tap water, it is so full of sulphur you can not ever cook with it. A bad place to live, lots of bad things always happening, Phillips always saying they MIGHT close down the refinery, which would kill the town. If you have any other options, please check them out. If you are from another state, you will always be an outcast. Do not be decieved by all the churches. Somehow Christianity does not translate to the lives of the young people, who increasingly are going to be more of the poulation as the older folks pass away. DO NOT move there without visiting first, and stay a week if you have to to get a feel for the reality of the place. Do not make a long term decision and damage your family and kids the way others have. Compared to Dallas or Tusla, or Kansas city, it is a living hell. Think of your kids first.

You are an idiot... "wee-gi boards in Sunday school class, give me a break. The city of Borger is just like any other small town, some positives, some negatives. This guy has no idea what he it talking about.

Uh that post by Steve was a little jaded. Yes Borger is a small industrial town in the panhandle that has seen better days. In many smaller town across the country there are issues with kids/boredom/drugs/alcohol and in West TX people dont think much about driving an hour or two to go somewhere. Yes the water has more hardness than other places but we use filters and its fine.

I have been here for a month and a half and I HATE IT HERE! The people I have met have all been very nice but the town itself is just aweful. I smells horrible here & the carbon black plant scares me. My children go outside to play and when the come back inside their shoes are black, there hands are black & their clothes are black....even my dogs paws are...you guessed it, black! I am very concerned about the fine black powder that is released from the carbon black plant and what health risks are associated with it. I have only been here for a short time and already am fighting my second bought of bronchitis and my 5 year old had to get on breathing treatments. On top of the carbon black plant there is Conoco Phillips, Chevron Phillips & a fertilizer plant, Agrium. Not the best air quality around nor is it the nicest looking town. I am also disappointed with the schools here. They are no where near the same level of education from where we moved from & the Borger school districts tasks test scores leave little to be desired. I came here kicking and screaming because this is not a lovely quaint little town by any means.....you have to drive an hour to Amarillo to really do anything entertainment wise or even to see any specialists (rheumatologist, ENT, a GOOD pediatrician etc). We came for my husbands job (one of the plants, it's what keeps this town alive) and I hope and pray we are only here for a couple of years.

Oh my goodness. The people who posted to you obviously do not live in borger. I do, and have since I was five years old. Borger is a very safe town. There is a murder once every ten years, very seldom is there crime in Borger. There is so little that the news paper can put all the crimes and speeding tickets on half a page. Borger has been growing rapidly the last two years. New hotels and restraunts are going up all the time. Borger has a great future ahead of it. We just built a huge new elemetary school and they are about to start on a new hospital. Borger may be a little boring but it is full of hard working individuals. The air here does often smell funny, but meets all of the air pollution policies and is no danger to any one's health. I also must add that Borger and Pampa are long time rivals. People from Pampa don't have nice things to say about people in Borger and people in Borger seldom have anything nice to say about people from Pampa. It is really a silly feud. I am proud of Borger and would pick an argument with anyone who said other words. By the way we have over forty churches in Borger not bad for a town of 14,ooo.

I've lived in Borger for nineteen years. I understand that Borger is pretty boring and that it is not the pretties little town, but I have never come in from out side with black carbon on my hands or feet and I spend a great deal of time outside. I'm not sure what part of town you live in but I grew up right by the carbon black plants and never had it on me or my clothes. I think you're over exagerating. The tests that are given here are called the taks tests, and Borger doesn't make them up the state of Texas does. So your complaint is a little misplaced. The teachers in Borger are wonderful and there is a small teacher to student ratio. I still have contact with a lot of teachers who taught me here. Give Borger a chance there are a lot of great women's groups here you could be a part of.
