Erin - Im not sure about the elevation, but it's not too high. You can check all the stats like that here in city-data.... As far as apartments not many, but you should be able to find a home for rent. More than likely you are going to want to call the Chamber of Commerce there, and a couple local Realtors and ask if they have any info on rentals in the area. I'd give Onalaska a try on rentals as well because they are going to a tad bit less expensive if you are looking for something to rent in the range of apartment prices. I almost moved to Livingston a few years back, and at the time there were only a couple apt. complexes, and no avalabilities. I noticed many 3/2 homes in the area for rent at around a grand a month. If you are looking for a smaller home it's going to be hard, but good luck.....

Why is elevation important? This part of Texas is flat. I Live about 15 minutes south west of Livingston on the big lake. We go to Livingston to do shopping or whatever else we need. Livingston is very inexpensive to live but it is also a poor town. There is employment but mostly retail which traditionally pays crap. There is lots of close by recreation and even a legal casino about a half hour east. Its an old and mostly dumpy town. Very little if any home improvement going on. Its just a working class town where people struggle from paycheck to paycheck like any other place. It is about an hour and 15 minutes from downtown Houston.

We were almost transferred to that area about 2 years ago...instead we were transferred to Tyler. We did visit the area several times...it's very pretty. We really enjoyed the lake area...and if you are buying real estate....great bargains! I don't know much about the rental market...but I would think that there would be some in the area because there are a lot of "weekender" lake homes...where people would like to get some income coming in....if they don't live there all the time. Good luck!

GOOGLE EARTH has elevation not only for Livingston but for whatever part of livingston you are looking at - its really a neat free program.

I did some cases there in the 90's pleasant town scenic and friendly people. There was a woman bondsperson I had a crush on she was SO HOT!

Wife works in the hospital there but we live 30 miles east of town. It is not "flat" but is rolling terrain. I'd guess the elevation is around120' above sea level.

Contact realtors there for rental listings you seek.
