Not sure if this occurred to anyone, but this is a federal program, SO, regardless if Texas take this money or not, all of us who are tax payers in Texas, will pay for it. The government is not going to exempt texas tax payers from increased taxes because Perry didn't take the money. Just a thought. If am going to pay for it anyways in my federal taxes I would like to see some of the benefits.

It is not whether we pay for it once (we will) but whether we will have to keep paying for it forever (which we won't).

If it's not building a for-profit, foreign-owned super slab tollway that 70% of Texans oppose, it's trying to set up other sweetheart deals like selling the lottery to UBS at Phil Gramm's urging or forcing every young girl in Texas to get the Gardasil shot that his former chief-of-staff lobbied for.

Perry's an out of touch scumbag. He won the last election even though 61% of voters voted against him. Regardless of where his heart is, it's long beyond time for him to go.
Word.

How this guy is even relevant for the next election will remain a mystery.

Then again, KBH back the bailout...wow, what choices for guv.

KBH is saying to take the money and find a way out of the requirement. Well she hasn't come out and said exactly "how" to do that has she but she's sure hooting up a storm about how Texas needs that money and Perry didn't take it.

And yes..she did vote for the bailout so she's OFF my list. I'll vote for Perry again before I'd vote for her. She does not have us peons on her radar screen.

And Perry DOES? His rejection of the stimulus funds is nothing more than grandstanding because he knows he's in jeopardy of losing the governorship in 2010. Goodhair's a weasel.

By rejecting that part of the stimulus he saved businesses in Texas from having increased unemployment taxes to cover part time workers so I'm gonna say "yes" Perry's rejection will benefit us peons, especially small business owners who can only afford to hire part time workers.

At the same time, funds from unemployment insurance appears to have been funneled to A&M.

I think Perry is doing the right thing regardless of the reason.
