In-N-Out does slaughter their own beef and all stores must be within 500 miles of the nearest warehouse to ensure same day delivery and freshness. They only have refrigeration and never freeze their meat.

Too many great local burger joints for me to even consider In-and-Out (overrated)

My sister who passed away a few years ago lived near Keller's. That was a great burger! I am going to have to go there again and have one. Every time I visited her, I stopped at Keller's on the way in and bought everyone a burger.

I actually asked a manager in Burkburnet when Braums would get to Abilene and points south. They advised that Wichita Falls and Dallas were maximum distances from their distribution center to insure freshness and that it was unlikely that they would get our way. Too bad. After reading all of this, I am going to have to have a hamburger for lunch! We have two really good local burger places--Bill's Better Burgers and Larry's. I will make one of them. They are always better than the chains.

Hmm, sounds like it could give Beck's Prime a run for its money. But Texans can be homers, so I don't know how long it would last once the initial novelty wore off.

No doubt! I'm simply comparing the 'fast food' burger joints, i.e. < $5

The 'hole in the wall' places always have the best food..

I said it before & I'll say it again. The best burgers are found at the mom & pops joints in small insert town USA. Nuff said

Burger King can't even hold a candle to Texas Burger

In-N-Out is popular because its in Cali. & we don't have one here...yet. Texans worry too much about what they don't have, which isn't much, we have everything at our disposal & more already.

I remember when the first Krystal's (Whitecastle equivalent) opened in Houston off 1960 a few years ago it was all the rage till the new wore off. Not sure how they're faring now, especially in this economic crisis we're currently in.

Same with ours. This is why they take a while to make your food when I lived in Texas.
