So with the talks of secession and the tea parties I am starting to worry just a bit. I just seen the news report on the increase of gun license applications and shortage of ammunition. Seems like we are preparing for some type of war. I love my state and the united states but seem people are going a tad bit far. I know this is all due to politics but people need to get a grip.

You mean you haven't noticed the increase of crime, female abductions and bank robberies around Houston lately? That might have more to do with the increase in applications than any "retarded" attempt to secede. And yes, the economy has a lot to do with the increase in crime.

It has to do with fear and uncertainty, and people cling to what they think is secure in these times.

People that go too far become dangerous to others. I agree that this is all due to our uncertain times and a need to feel secure, but this type of response is not in the best interest of the people at large. Hopefully things will settle down, the job market will improve, more kids will get into college with loans or scholarships, and things will look up.
I do think that a lot of this is perception, though. If one perceives that things will get better and that better times are yet to come, then they are more calm during this time. This has been my attitude, even though I am looking for a job and have two kids in college and don't know how to pay for next semester's tuition....but things will get better and we live in a great nation that offers opportunities for growth and success.

The way the country is headed, I could see a revolution type war taking place.

How weird would it be to see neighborhood militias doing battle on U.S. soil with the Marines ?

No empire in history has lasted as long as the US empire. It's about 50 years overdue for political collapse, historically.

The secession talk is just retarded political posturing and a ruse to hide all the real debates happening in Austin right now. Secession talk is a shiney object, and we're all adderall addicted kids.

I don't think people wanting to be safe, free, and distrustful of politicians is crazy at all.

Sounds absolutely sane to me.

That's a hoot. Yeah, it'll be soooo much better if Texas seceeds. Our politicians are much better than their politicians. Gimme a break.

I've heard of revisionist history, but this is going too far!
