Why is Arlington on there instead of Waco? Waco is forgotten or ignored most of the time. It seems like Austin before it became popular. When the media mentions "Bush is at his ranch" they mention a small-town (a suburb) of Crawford instead of "in (or near) Waco" (the principal city).

Come on, the Branch Davidian stigma must stop. It was just one event that happened a long time ago. If this happened in a major city, it would not be stigmatized so much. Waco needs to hire an ad agency to change its image. Here's an idea, "Try Waco: An alternative to the overcrowded Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex." Maybe after an image change it will become as popular or more popular than Austin or DFW.

The Branch Davidians are long gone.

Would the tragedy in Blacksburg at VA Tech keep people from moving to that lovely part of the country? It wouldn't stop me if I had a chance to move the beautiful mountains in that area.

What about Tim McVay and the Federal Building in OK? What about Columbine and Eric and Dylan? What about the Twin Towers? What about Killeen and George Hennard? What about Charles Whitman and Austin? What about...........and the list goes on and on and on.

Goodness, there is murder and other crimes everywhere. Personally, I would not live in Waco because the crime statistics are rising, but that doesn't have anything to do with David and his followers.

But the other cities you mention were already on the map before those events, well except for Columbine, and I don't think there's some huge influx to that place anyway! Waco only gained notoriety BECAUSE of that event. Not that I have anything against the place...

I voted for Fort Worth because I think it's the best large city, but I almost voted for "other" because I prefer Alpine. However, it's arguably not big enough to be considered a city, at least in the way that the named poll choices are (likewise, and even more so, for Fort Davis, which I truly love).

Waco was well known before that event actually. It use to be a very popular city, the twin city of Dallas actually until the tornado that destroyed downtown which led Waco to what it is now, but Waco is a great city (I Live here!) The crime has risen but if you live here you don't really notice much crime, but anyways we have hills and beautiful scenery,a growing downtown and much more! Imo,Waco is a very underrated city due to the Branch Davidians incident, and the fact that people judge Waco just by viewing it from I-35! get off the highway people, their is a lot of great things your missing.

It depends on if I'm visiting or living there........I love Austin...San Antonio...but I wouldn't want to live in either. Love lot's of places in the Lone Star State.....but I would only want to live in a few....and they are all in East Texas.

Slight problem with the pole, and I did not vote for this reason, you can't vote best city if you have not visited and lived in each city on the list. How do you compare them?
