Texas is an at-will state. The employer can terminate the employment relationship for any reason at any time.

For any reason NOT prohibited by law. In other words, it's against the law to fire someone because of a discriminatory reason that's protected by law (age, race,ethnicity, religion, gender, disability - I think that may be all of them) but anything else is at the discretion of the company.

Well, yes, of course not for any reason that would violate the Civil Rights Act of 1964. That law includes all of those reasons except disability. Disability became a protected class with the passage of ADA in 1990.

Right - I was just clarifying that for the OP by listing the exceptions to Texas "At Will" employment.
