No, what people are saying is is that Houston and Dallas are the only "official" major cities in Texas. Houston and Dallas don't even offer half of what TX offers.

But whatever, I'm done with this thread.
You lost me the last few sentences... but yes, I agree with everything you say in bold!

That's not what I was getting out of it.
If anything, I'd say Dallas and Houston have less and less "Texas" in them every day. Especially Houston. I mean, when would you ever expect to find a huge Chinatown (complete with street signs in Chinese) in Texas?

I never argued the fact that Houston and Dallas were the two most important cities in Tx; I just feel that they aren't the only major cities.

Together, the metro areas of Houston and Dallas have nearly half of Texas' population.

Trae/Angel713 is right. Half of the states population are in the DFW and Houston metro areas. The only thing that i would say that DFW or Houston doesn't have that some other parts of the state might offer are the Mountains of West Texas (Or large rocks if you're from Colorado).

Ok so what is your argument. When it comes to only Texas, I can actually see it. But when you are thinking nationally. Every other city other than Houston and Dallas registers NOTHING to the country. Nothing. Sorry but it's the truth. Austin and San Antonio barely does and if they barely register anything to the country as major cities, you know any city less than 500,000 would.

Wow, who woulda thunk that a simple question like this would generate 15+ pages of responses and contentious debate?

It all boils down to everyone's individual definition of "major" and their perspective. As a native Texan, now living in the PacNW, the answer is crystal clear to me: D/FW and Houston are the only major cities in Texas. Austin, San Antone, El Paso are large cities but not major cities. Everything else is just a city or town.

Let's just all agree that Mentone and Luckenbach are the state's major cities and end the thread.
