I am trying to find out how to hire a reliable, honest, english-speaking mothers' helper in the McAllen,Weslaco, Mercedes area. My daughter has moved to the area and has 2 children under 2 and another on the way. She is a sahm, but needs an extra pair of arms. I am too far away to be there as often as I would like. We have tried agencies, but they are $$$$ and don't want to send out help unless it is under contract. Anyone living in the area who can give us a direction? The last suggestion was to hire an illegal from across the border. (that is not even a consideration) Can anyone offer any advice? Even a student willing to work a few hours a day would be beneficial.

That doesn't give me much hope...........have you lived in the valley a while? I noticed some of your other replies to inquiries. It sounds like you have been there for a while.
