Hello! My family will be moving to Victoria in about a year or sooner. I'd love to know what type of community it is, and which elementary schools are the best. I have a 3 y/o son who has special needs, and has attended his 1st year of preschool already. He is already enrolled for preschool next year, and is in the WA state early intervention program.

Besides the school stuff, what is there to do in this city? I'm accustomed to small town life, but wonder what the popular attractions are for Victoria. Is the crime rate low or high? According to the city data it's higher than the national average. I'd love to hear the opinion of a local.

Is it possible to get a decent sized house in a nice neighborhood for around 150k? That seems like a stretch, since real estate isn't as cheap as it used to be.

I am sorry to barge in, but any info you find out, I would be glad to know! I am thinking of moving to TX in 2 years, and Victoria is on my list. We want something sorta by the Gulf Coast (but not toooooo close), good schools, and affordable housing-like you. I have looked online realtor.com and victoria does seem to have the housing. You might want to check another area I am to-League City. Good housing also, and supposodly great schools (unless of course you are moving to Victoria for family. I am able to pick wherever I want to live

Northern Victoria is definitely safer than south. But the downtown area and old victoria has more of a small town feeling. But on the weekend, downtown is pretty much deserted. Like i said in another thread, northern Victoria is like suburbia with nice houses and chain stores. There are kind of bad drivers in Victoria.

I went to Clear Lake High School. Both school districts are highly rated. When I lived there, there were only 2 high schools. Now I think there are 5. But then, I graduated in '88, but lived in Houston till 2000. League City is almost totally unrecognizable from what I remember it being like, it's grown enormously. Tons and Tons of things to do.
