Well because Texans hated it so much, it's not called the Trans-Texas Corridor anymore. They (Slick Rick Perry and company) think that if they change the name we'll forget about it. We won't. It's a massive waste of money and a HUGE for-profit land grab.

When it's completed it'll run through Texas to Mexico City and then on to the deep-water port of Lazaro Cardenas. There goods bound for North America will be loaded onto Mexican trucks and Mexican rail cars and shipped into the US. Put two and two together and you'll realize this is a concerted effort by business and government to put American truckers and stevedores out of work.

It actually would be the Texas part of the NAFT super-highway, which would go on into Canada as well.

As I understand it, the Texas portion would be built by a Spanish construction company (as if there aren't any Texas companies which could do it) and the only customs shed would be in Kansas City for both directions. It would be operated by a Chinese contractor.

It's an example of globalism at its finest, at the expense of our country, our people and our soveriegnty.

Word.

Just sweep it under the rug, hope the economy tanks, then try to throw ***** at the wall and hope it sticks to where the people like it.

If you're one of thsoe folks who like retired US trucks (retired because they can't pass US standards anymore) running roads near you, by all means back this idea.

I'm just wondering how anyone actually can justify voting for Duhbya's appointee, anyway. I mean, KBH backed the bailout...ah, that lesser evil idea comes back to haunt!

It's a horrible idea, always has been and always will be. This point is one that liberals and conservatives surely can agree upon, unless they've been bought by those who will profit.

If the Trans-texas corrior was bulit there would be hardly no more land would there? There would hardly be any farmland and woodlands anymore right? Some animals may go extinct?

Not quite. From that article:

""Make no mistake: The Trans-Texas Corridor as we have known it no longer exists," TxDOT executive director Amadeo Saenz said in a speech at an annual transportation conference. In its place will be a smaller, more deliberate plan that assesses individually each of the scores of projects once lumped together as part of the TTC."

Translation - "We're still going to do it, we're just going to employ some Machiavellian BS to make you THINK you got your way."

It was capitalism run amok. It was Governor Rick Perry's wonderful idea of abolishing public, state funded highways, with a system of privately owned toll roads, so only the rich can drive. Like every other Rick Perry plan, it eventually was recognized as being moronic.
