Don't know why people seem to want San Antonio to have that *AWESOME* downtown concrete jungle look like some other cities

I hope SA never builds high rises to attract and house the hipsters destroying the charm of the city like they have done in other cities.

Big concrete slabs attract these types which SA doesn't need...

I'm not sure what I think about the Riverwalk personally and its status on being a real river or not, but I do know San Antonio is the #1 tourist destination in Texas with the Riverwalk and the Alamo. The Riverwalk is a great time, and I doubt the fine people on San Antonio's city council are too concerned over what a few internet critics think about it.

Personally, I do like the feel of San Antonio's downtown. They could beef up density around the core with low and mid-rise multi-unit dwellings if they wanted to, but they don't need skyscrapers to improve the city. I don't see how a bunch of modern glass fortresses would do anything but hurt the character of the city. At the end of the day, it's a decision best left for the people who live in the city, not me.

Both Dallas and Houston gets more tourists than SA.

SA gets 7M tourist annually.
DFW and Houston gets over 12 each.

As for total visitors (business and tourists), SA is blown out of the water.

You can say that the Riverwalk is the number one tourist destination, I will give you that, but you cannot say San Antonio is.

BTW, the Houston Galleria is the most visited site in Texas.Commercial tourist is huge in Texas, and that is their mecca.

I was wrong, the Riverwalk is number 9. The Alamo is number one.

Here we go with this crap again.

Skyscrapers and high-rises do NOT = hipsters. And they're just a small part of an entire city. How exactly can they destroy a city's charm?
