I have a very good career opportunity there (in the medical field). I am from Texas originally (Ft Worth area), and have been misplaced in the Southeast and am longing to get back to Texas.
The opportunity is almost too good to be true, so please yall...for those who are the least familiar with Eagle Pass, tell me why I should or should not go..Thanks yall

Well, crime there is very low, especially violent crime. The population is about 95% Hispanic, which I myself would enjoy, even as a white guy,but may not be for everyone.San Antonio is only a couple of hours away, and if you are in the medical field then you are probably insulated from any economic downturns that might occur in a border town economy. We have some friends who moved from central Texas to Presidio, another border town that is probably very similar, and they love it and wouldn't live anywhere else. The pace of life is definitely slower in these majority Hispanic border towns, and if you are avoiding a high crime area like Laredo then I would say try it out, especially if the job offer is tremendous.

I notice you also asked about Abilene.Abilene is nice, and I have many relatives there and lived there awhile myself, but if I had to choose between there and Eagle Pass I think I would go to EP.

I am not personally familiar with EP.All I can tell you is that my friends who live in Presidio, which I think would be very similar, love it.From a safety standpoint, all I know is what the statistics show, which is zero rapes, zero murders.I'm sure drug trafficking is going through EP,but it doesn't seem to be causing any major crime there, just passing through on the highways. The crime rate is actually half of what Abilene's is.

Being a SWF definitely adds another dimension to the question. If you had any real thoughts on moving there then I would just pay the hospital a personal visit and ask questions.Or if that is not feasible then call the hospital and talk to their HR person about your concerns.

Default You should move to Eagle Pass

Can I go with you to Eagle Pass ?

Eagle Pass, Texas is a true gem. Eagle Pass, Texas is actually the best US-Mexico border city. Eagle Pass, Texas is a hidden gem. This city is a great place to live and a great place to raise a family. The school system is top notch. This city has very little crime.

Eagle Pass, Texas is also a beautiful city. When I visited Eagle Pass it kind of reminded me of some of the beautiful lands on the Navajo Nation in Arizona and New Mexico but it was in Texas. I was amazed. Eagle Pass is a beautiful city.

They have a golf course right on the border. When you walk across the border on one of the bridges you will be walking over a golf course. It is really cool. Eagle Pass also has trees and the majority of the vegetation is green. There is also really cool reddish brown like rolling hills there that remind me of the native american lands.

It is extremely difficult to get a job in Eagle Pass. I have been trying for years. Most people who move to Eagle Pass stay in Eagle Pass forever. Eagle Pass is a great city. This is a terrific community.

If I were in your shoes I would definitely jump on this offer. You will also only be 2 and a half hours from the great city of San Antonio. I would not recommend using Del Rio or Laredo as your hub cities because neither one is that great.

I was absolutely amazed when I visited Eagle Pass. I was expecting another run down bordertown. When I visitied Eagle Pass I can honestly say the visit was one of the biggest suprises I have ever witnessed in my entire life. Eagle Pass is a true gem. Eagle Pass is one of the best cities in America. I am confident that you will like Eagle Pass. I am a hard man to please when it comes to the various cities in America, however I really loved Eagle Pass, Texas. I hope that one day I get the chance to live in beautiful Eagle Pass, Texas.

I had some friends that work with the border patrol that were stationed out that way for awhile and they said there was nothing to do out that way and ended up here (San Antonio) most of the time off. They have two kids so were not looking for nightlife justsomething to do with the kids

Smile Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras

OK I am from Eagle Pass and yes I am in the medical field so of coarse I will recomend the move but not just because we are in need of medical field profesionals. Instead I recomend it because it is a calm and quiet place to live. If you are single and the partying type you might not like it here, we do not have night clubs, but there are some on the other side of the border and it is safe belief me it is. I do not think you will be going there by yourself we are very friendly and anyone that you meet here will be more than happy to take you across, or to San Antonio, Del RIo, Uvalde, or Laredo. Eagle Pass is growing rapidly and we now have at least an Apple Bees, Fudruckers, Chillies and lots of Mexican food, as well as a mall and the Charcol grill and Booties. we also have a Bowling Lanes, and of coarse the Casino. Rent is low and we really are very friendly you will love us and will become one of our family. and if it's pizza you like there is plenty of it. If you have kids we have the boys/girls club, a public pool, and lots of beisball, soccer, and other sports year around. So come visit and you decide you will never know if you like if you don't try it, like our parents use to say when we did not want to eat some new dish she invented.
