i dont know what you all are looking for in Denton... but someones missing something.

People are VERY nice here.

There are a lot of academic hipsters. If you are looking for the yuppie culture... denton's not for you... it prides itself on being "REAL".

yuppie culture is ... however something that is common everywhere so you wont be hard pressed to find it.

snobs exist everywhere.

Denton is fun if you are looking for the fun had by those who found their identity and dont look for it in name brands or pop icons.

its the only place in texas other then austin that has a reputable music and art culture. the underground scene is thick here. for a small town... Denton is phenominal. nothing compares. its austin 20yrs ago when austin was a lot less corporate and trendy.... when the only folks that knew about austin were "austinites".

think about it. research. if Denton is not for you its because you want a bland cosmopolitan city that goes with the genetrification flow of the greater american majority. people who dog Denton don't know how unique it is and are in search for vanilla.

Let me just encourage you to come on down. The entire Dallas-Ft Worth area is friendly and Denton is no exception, whatsoever. You will like it here and I think you'll be very surprised. Houses and apartments are being built left and right. A new town center is under construction on the city's west side which will include some new town homes. It's a great place to live and try a few new things.
Just get down here. You'll be glad you did.

Oh, and one more thing. At this time of year, you might want to bring some cool, loose clothes and a strong fan.

i guess so as long as you dont end up in areas that generally have a history of being predjudice towards minorities.

You can find a handful of very NICE people at any city including Denton. I've met some nice people in Denton sure.

Denton prides itself on being "REAL"....huh are you serious? I was used and taken advantage of by 5 gay guys there (can't recall any positive or good romantic relationships in the gay community there). If you are gay I do not suggest you move there...although there are gays..they are unhappy and dysfunctional gays. Denton is not as liberal as most say it is because the only gay bar there was burnt down due to arson and the gay flag at the gay church in denton was stolen and the replaced one was burnt causing damage to the area near the church.

Not to mention I am shocked at the amount of drug (especially pot use) and alcohol use at the Univeristy. Almost every student I met was into drinking underage and smoking grass on a weekly or weekend basis. What happened to shopping, going to the movies, going to parties, dancing, bowling, swimming, talking, getting to know one another?? That part of culture is virtuall non-existant there...(RARELY did anybody wish to do those activities with me and I am one of hottest dudes in town).

I was taken advantage of by fake phoney non-gay Church people at 2 churches that pride themselves on being "REAL" and "caring", they didn't even know I was gay perhaps it had to do with me being an ethnic minority. Treated unfairly and rudely by several academic staff at UNT (including a verbally and physically abusive professor) to the point where I had to report it to their supervisors. Taken advantage of by 3 counselors who refused to show up on time, who broke the privacy policies, and refused to be helpful to the point where I had to file complaints with their bosses. Oddly enough there is a strong anti-psychology movement in Denton even with counselors...does that make sense to you? The LIST goes on and on, on how dyfunctional and unethical the culture is in Denton. I was raised with values and self respsect and if I stayed there I would be dissing myself. If that sounds nice to you then by all means move to Denton and have a blast with those kind of people. Those people are not my kind of people.

For the most part Denton culture has the arrogant attitude of the yuppie culture but take away respect for others and class.

Question East of Denton (rural)

How is it on the east side of Denton (north of the lake) between Cooper Creek & Greenbelt Corridor Park?

Also, how is the drive from there to Lewisville?

Finally, how are the following Schools:
Hodge Elementary School?
Strickland Middle School?
Ryan High School?
