This I believe is why there is an abundance of boosterism and bashing concerning the cities of Texas is this forum.
I think it's safe to say that our definition of Texas revolves around our perspectives living in our city. But few have experienced all that Texas has to offer, which includes living in someone else's city and enjoying it as a local would.

I myself have lived in Houston for 8 years, in Arlington for 4 years, and in Austin for 12 years. I can truly say that I love all of those cities, but I prefer Austin because of the lifestyle Austin offers for young singles as myself.

The weird thing is we all have the same accent, our cities our absolutely similar and the people generally have the same beliefs politically and religiously. So anthropologically speaking this is a anomaly. But it's there, people in Dallas doesn't like Houston and people from Houston get defensive, I don't know how people feel about Austinites in fact i don't think i have ever met one, Austin is more like the battle ground between the two. But we keep it strictly smack talking about sports and which city sucks the most, no real violence.
No. Austin is not the battleground for the two at all. Here, Austinites do not enjoy the lifestyle that Houston and Dallas have to offer.

People here shop locally, go green, eat sushi for breakfast and ride bikes. Houston and Dallas do not support that lifestyle as much.

People will say ANYTHING just to make each other mad. Ive never seen a forum where people just live for trashing each other, than the Texas forums where posters are comparing cities. Houston is a chemical swamp, Dallas is rude and materialistic, Austin is an overratted liberal hick town, etc. Also, often Texan posters come across very arrogant when talking about their towns.

I just moved here from California, and I actually see very little of this among people I know and I ask their opinions often. Most people Ive actually met in Dallas have little to say about anywhere South of Waco or East of Tyler.

If Texans are so prideful, then why do they hate each others cities so much?
I don't hate any other Texas cities. Why would I? I don't even think about it, really. I figured all Texans stuck together. I don't know why we wouldn't.

even if it's positive??? I loved living in the DFW area.... those were the best days of my life. I didn't like Grand Prairie though.... or Oak Cliff. I also lived in Garland for a year.... there was a shoot out in the apartments we lived in. It was awesome!
