I feel naked without my seatbelt. I even wear it when I'm just riding around in the pasture.

I won't even let my kids go with people if there aren't enough seatbelts. I've caught crap for that and people think I'm crazy but I'm not taking chances.

Amen! If he caught you without a seatbelt on, you deserved to be caught!

In all fairness, that was 15 years ago and not everyone was used to wearing their belts yet.

What?!?

I've been driving for over 30 years and it has always been important to wear your seatbelt.

And don't act like 1994 was all that long ago.

About the only defense that is understandable is that you made a mistake and have learned from it. Trying to justify it because it was "15 years ago" doesn't hold water!

Considering the first "modern" 3-point automotive seat belt was introduced by Volvo in 1959 (and quickly spread to other makes and models), I think the driving public has had plenty of time to get used to the idea of buckling up.

My '70 F-100 has standard lap belts. The shoulder belt part was an option. But that's the newest car or truck I've seen that way.

HB 2730 increases the driver license sanction from a one-year CDL license disqualification to a lifetime disqualification if a person uses a motor vehicle to transport, conceal or harbor an alien.

This includes everybody with a green card or a tourist visa, right? Of do they just mean illegal alien?

95 out of 100 fatalities in car wrecks can be avoided by wearing a seatbelt.
5 out of 100 fatalities in car wrecks can be avoided by airbags.

I did a report on this in college. Seatbelts are the single source of safety in a car. Airbags will cushion the blow, but will not save your life in a hard crash.

In 1950, the crash fatality rate was 8.28, and without seat belts, that was nearly cut in half by the early 60's, to less than 5.00. Mostly with general car safety design and highway design. Seatbelts have now been made mandatory, but the fatality rate has fallen by only two thirds, to a current 1.70. So, all factors combined, including seatbelts and airbags, in the past 50 years has saved about 65 lives out of 100.
