Yes-- that's called anti-libertarian and this sentiment is a bit troubling to me.

Social conservatism and liberal fiscal policy is quite the improbable combination of views. It is the exact opposite of Libertarian values (and we are considered somewhat improbable.)

People are so eager to have *something* to fight for now-a-days. Anything.
I guess that's easier than actually working together with people you may not agree with to create something better for everyone?

Unfortunately, at times, its the only thing left when two sides cannot compromise anymore.

And apparently easier to shove anything down the electorates gullet as long as there's claim to having done something, even if it isn't really the right thing. Why not just put the thing down and leave it alone?

Its hard to tell but lookig at the issues it seems unlikely with the liberal democrats in charge of the national party for that to happen. If as we saw during the last congressional elections more bluedogs take control it could happen.

I've often noticed older blacks tend to vote conservative more than rich blacks.

If our state economy is expanding, education system is improving, environmental resources are properly managed, and the middle class is growing do you really care which party accomplished it? The Gay Black Nazis for Christ Party could be in charge for all I care.

Until people get past their party rhetoric that puts an ideology above the good of the state nothing will change.

It's called Christianity...staunchly holding on to your traditions and ensuring that they don't become eroded while at the same time being compassionate instead of greedy.

Christian Democrat parties, which are a common feature of politics in most of the rest of the world, tend to believe in this combination of beliefs. It's what was traditionally believed by populist Democrats.

Really wealthy people don't feel as insecure about their wealth and tend not to be as greedy. It's the new money in particular who are staunchly Republican--damn those poor people who our ancestors were! With generations of work, they can get rich too and actually have healthcare!
