I love these threads. Go read the most hated city thread and how Houstonites swear they are innocent and don't understand the hate.

Then you get a thread like this.

From what I see, its 50/50. Both Dallasites and Houstonians are increadibly snide with one another. However the one thing I see more from Houstonians is the denial of it all. Houstonians and Dallasites on this forum brag more than anyone else I see (and its pretty 50/50, Houstonians would like to believe they dont brag as much, but theyre kidding themselves).

Why do you think this thread was put in the Dallas forum?

Houston's three largest employment centers are downtown, uptown/galleria/ and TMC which are within 5 miles of each other; not to mention the various other attractions. Again DFW developed differently than Houston. If you want to argue about this further than make a thread in the city vs city thread.
This is a pretty good synopsis of the areas. DFW developed differently. DFW is much more multi-polar than Houston. Houston is much more centric. These things are bad or good, its just the way they are.

I didn't know where else to put as I didn't realize there was a Texas forum otherwise I would have put it in there. I guess it's not too late to put it there.

Houston is usually consider not as a popular or attractive city in this state and nationwide when comparing to Austin or DFW so there is some defensiveness. Of course Houstonians brag, as do most cities' residents but I think it's a little farfetched to claim Houston and DFW brag more considering there is a bias on this forum to the South and Texas.

I was unaware that people thought Houston was less attractive than DFW elsewhere. In California, if you asked the people who had been to both cities which they liked better, half the time they would say Houston, the other half would say DFW. The reasons people gave for liking Houston better was that it was more international, friendly, and more laid back. The people who liked Dallas better said it was for the shopping, nightlife, and easier to get around in.

Some Houstonians think bashing Dallas every chance they get will some kind of way make Houston grander than Dallas. Houstonians have a problem with Dallas. Dallasites respect Houston as a city and a metro area. The media does favor Dallas over Houston for various reasons. Its always been like that. The hit show DALLAS and also the Dallas Cowboys A*K*A "Americas Team" has given America a pretty favorable view of Dallas. Don't blame Dallas for marketing and branding itself very well.

The folks in the Dallas forum got really mad about this. Lots of anger was directed towards Houston and Houstonians. Perhaps this thread will turn out differently, but I doubt it.

Two things:

1) Dallas is a smaller city and the traffic isnt quite as bad.
2) The public transit is better in Dallas than Houston. With the expansion they are planning, its about to get even better.
