Hi, I just recently bought a saddle that has a marking by Lone Star Saddle Co, Laredo Tx. I have not been able to find anything about them on the internet. Is there anyone out there who has heard of them? I figure they are out of business but I'd sure like to know a little about the history of this saddle, it's a beauty. Thanks!

I have a Lone Star Saddle Co saddle as well. Mine too is a really nice saddle. The tab says "1978" but I do not know if that is a model number or a date. If you find out anything about them, please let me know. Bear

I saw a book several years ago, that listed a lot of the old saddle companies, and had some information on them. I can't remember the title.

I checked my saddle and it has the number "1725" on the tab, so it's probably just a serial number for that particular saddle. I'm not a "saddle buff", either......I just use them. This saddle is one of the best I've owned so far.

From the Laredo Yellow Pages:

Asmussen Horse & Rider Equip
PO Box 2325
Laredo, TX 78044

Western Star Saddle Shop
5350 State Hwy 359
Laredo, TX 78043

T T Saddlery Inc
2604 Loop 20
Laredo, TX 78043

Las Imports Inc
1607 San Bernardo Ave
Laredo, TX 78040

I'd pick one of these shops (like Western Star) and call them. I bet they know all about Lone Star Saddles.

Default Lone Star Saddle Co

I have an old 1960's Billy Cook which also has a Lone Star Saddle Co., keeper on it. The Billy Cook keeper is buckstitched, as is the saddle. I believe Lone Star Saddle Co. was a retailer and the various numbers are the inventory numbers. Mine is 1755. Even pottery and china retailers had their names put on various pieces in addition to the maker.
