You'll have to define "small" and "great to raise children." Leaving it open makes your question difficult to answer.

To me, small is less than 5000 people. "Great to raise children" makes me think of strong Christian values and close communities. Your definitions may vary.

Port Isabel, Laguna Vista, Rockport/Port Aransas area or South Padre Island if you can afford it.

Hello. I was in the same situation as you..and looking for a coastal town. I actually chose Port Aransas. I have heard the elementary school there is good...but I'm not sure about jr high or high school. Port A is a tourist town...but there are lots of local families too. Lots to do if you like sun and surf...and I hear they have good city programs (art, sports, actitivites, etc.)

Yes..it is pricey there...but I'm moving from the west coast, so to me it seems cheap. But compared to the rest of Texas, not so much. Just depends on your perspective.

I don't know much about the other towns mentioned. Only Port A. But thought I'd offer my two cents!

Good luck...!

How is the cost of living/homes in the Rockport/Port Aransas area, vs. Corpus?
