We live in Georgetown currently, but are relocating due to our jobs. We love it in our little town and hate to leave, but we have to go where our jobs take us...otherwise we would stay! If anyone is interested in a place to live, we have a duplex with 2 bedrooms (650/month) we are trying to sublease near I-35 in a suburb area and we are allowed a pet. To give you an idea what is really near us we have: a lot of parks, a dog park, Georgetown High School about 7 minutes down the road, tons of shopping and places to eat at Wolf Creek Ranch, a movie theater almost in our backyard, a Walmart near that, HEB, Historic Georgetown downtown (always has festivals going on downtown and market days), a bowling alley, Lake Georgetown about 10 minutes up the road, etc. About 10-15 minutes from our house there is also Round Rock which has the outlet malls and there is another mall close to that...oh yeah IKEA is there too. A little further up the road is a Austin's Park (Austin's Park). This is just a few samplings of things to do in our neck of the woods. There is always Lake Travis up a few exits up, amongst other places to go too! Georgetown is a great place to live with great neighbors. You get that small hometown feeling even with a nice size college in the historic area. This is a place where you can be proud to raise your children, give them some freedom, but still have them close enough to keep an eye on them!

Me personally, I would stick to a Church preschool, they typically have better ratios of teacher to student than Public Day Cares. Not always, but typically. I wish you all the best and good luck with your decisions.

A preschool wouldn't work at this time, but thanks so much for the info.

Yes there is a lot going on in the city but honestly we do take advantage of most of it because of the traffic. It takes forever to get somewhere! The beaches over here are awful ugly. We want a city with good schools, lower crime and better traffic than Houston.
I too am from Houston, I have enjoyed living in Georgetown and hope to move my mother here. I lived outside of Houston but I went into Houston often and the traffic was horrible. I go into Austin occasionally and it is nothing like Houston traffic. I had so many allergies in Houston and it was extremely humid there. While I do still have some allergies, it's nothing like what I had. I also have better "hair days" in Georgetown. That is important to a big haired Texas Female , joke! The lakes here, when full, are great and most are clean and beautiful.

Good luck to you.

Kelly

Hi!

I am considering moving to Georgetown and commuting to Temple for work. How far is it to Temple usually?

Thanks!

Depending on where in Georgetown and where in Temple, about 40-45 minutes straight up I35.

Default Howdy again

Where's the best place to rent? I would like somewhere preferably not noisy, not lots of college kids and low crime... I don't mind renting a townhome or condo if there aren't any good apartments in the area. Any suggestions?
