Hi everyone, this is my first post but I've been reading a lot of the threads on here for a while. Right now I'm attending school in San Marcos for my undergrad. I'm a junior right now but it's never too early to start looking into grad school right? Anyway, I want to get my masters in physicians assistant studies and I've been looking into UTPA and it seems like they have a pretty good program. I have a lot of friends here who are from all over the valley but they tell me that UTPA isn't the best school so, I want to know what everyone thinks about UTPA and the valley.I've never been anywhere south of corpus so I'd appreciate any info you could give me. I know hispanics are the majority ut thats ok because I am also hispanic. I do have one concern about that though, I was born and raised in college station and people, especially my valley friends, say that I am really "whitewash" for lack of a better word so I am also wondering how that would go over in the valley. Will people think I'm stuck up, will they look down on that? I am fluent in spanish so that won't be a problem. Thanks and sorry for the long post.

LOL whitewash, I haven't heard that term since I was in the Valley. You seem like you'd be fine, but I agree UTPA really isn't the best school.

Doesn't necessarily matter. A lot of employers will only see the "University of Texas" on your resume and care little about what the rest of it says.

You'll be ok attending the school; plenty of networking opportunities to find that first job after graduation! After your first job, the school you attended will be a second though for employers.
