I've bought a used car in Illinois. I don't want to re-title and register in Illinois because of the fees and I've now moved to Texas. I don't have *anything* in Texas - driver's license, registration, title, safety/emissions inspection (I'll be in Travis county) etc.

I have my Illinois driver's license as well as a passport (for identification). I have the title from the original owner, signed and transferred to me. I also already have insurance coverage from a Texas agent for my new (used) car bought in Illinois.

So I need to:
1a. Get my vehicle inspected for safety and emissions (Travis county)
1b. Title and register a vehicle that is not titled or registered currently to me
2. Get a Texas driver's license

Anyone think I'll have any problems getting all of the above at once? Are there any documents I'm missing?

Oh, I also have my Illinois state drive-away permit. I assume Texas doesn't need that for anything, but I just need it in place of a license plate to drive it.

How did that all work out for you? I have a friend in a similar situation. She's buying a used car in Illinois and moving to Texas the same week.
