You might as well consider Fort Worth, Dallas, and Arlington as a single unit. Lots of people commute from one to the other (unfortunately). Fort Worth is no slouch businesswise, and it's growing faster than Dallas. I would like to move out of it before it gets much bigger. I'm just not happy in a huge city.

Thoughts about 12 million in growth by 2030. Wow.

It would be nice to own some acreage, it will probably be worth a lot more by then.

I don't know the dynamics of the growth, I would imagine the cities will grow a bunch and even Longview/Tyler/Texarkana may grow a lot too.

No, Fort Worth is somewhat of a silent partner that lets Dallas take all the shine. Without its "FW", DFW would be "D" which I'm assuming would probably be just like San Antonio.

I live in FW. Hopefully most of the 12 million new Texans will move to the west and south.

I hope cities like Midland-Odessa get some of the growth. Most of the 12 million people will be moving to Houston and DFW, then sprinkled onto Austin and San Antonio, then the left overs for the rest of the state (which could be less than a million people). Houston's metro is said to grow by three million people by 2025.

NOOOOOOO no no no..Dallas w/o Fort Worth would still be a powerhouse. Too much business, tourism, finance, and history with fashion would be the key. If you take out FW out of the metroplex. Dallas STILL has over 4 million people living in it's metro. It and Houston are the powerhouses of Texas. Ft. Worth is on the level of San Antonio and Austin. They both need each other. But Ft Worth needs Dallas just a bit more than Dallas needs Ft Worth because it is the primary city in that region.

I will tell you. If I move back to Texas. I will move to Houston or Dallas. Austin and San Antonio are fine cities. But they are too small for me.

Yeah, Dallas-Plano-Irving has close to four million in its separate metro.

Texas' boosters seem to be awfully proud of all the growth the state is experiencing.

But how much of that growth is being fuelled by illegal immigrants from Mexico?

And who would actually want to live in a Houston with 10 million people, most of them Latin American? Are the expressways there not crowded enough? Is there not enough smog in the sky?

You make a good point, I will admit, but I'm sure that if Ft. Worth wasn't there, Dallas still wouldn't be around the same importance as Houston. Instead, more like Atlanta.
